What actually happens during the Selection Sprint
Three weeks. Real challenges. No prior experience required — and no safety net. A close look at how the sprint works and what it is really testing for.
Overview
The Selection Sprint is a three-week coding bootcamp — intense but fun. The first two weeks take place fully on-site at our Odesa campus. The third week shifts off-site: you work independently from wherever you are. It runs on a free, full-time basis with no prior experience required.
Daily structure
Participants work through 5–15 exercises each day. These may involve programming tasks or terminal-based challenges. The work is self-directed — you push through problems, get stuck, and find your way out. There is no one to rescue you, and that is by design.
Assessment
The programme includes two exams: one at the end of week one (Thursday) and another at the end of week two (Friday). Both are closed-book. The focus is on problem-solving ability, not memorisation. Weekend group projects run alongside individual work, reinforcing what you have learned while developing your capacity to collaborate under pressure.
What we are looking for
The Sprint serves two purposes. For candidates, it provides hands-on experience with //kood’s learning methodology before committing long-term. For us, it surfaces the people who are genuinely motivated — not just interested in theory, but willing to do the work when it gets hard.
Around 15% of participants leave during the three weeks. We consider that a healthy signal: it means the people who complete it are ready.
Community
Coding is only part of what happens during the Sprint. Participants build lasting friendships and professional connections through organised events and the social life that forms naturally when a group of curious people are thrown into an intense shared experience in Odesa. That community does not end when the sprint does.
